National Conference on RTI: Law, Policy and Governance

The ‘Right to Know is the Right to Live’. Transparency and access to information is pivotal to the functioning of a democracy. An informed citizen is an empowered one. For this one should have free, unfettered access to information. The jurisprudence of Democracy revolves around the pure concept of ‘accountability’ which can only be achieved if people in authority and power are subject to public gaze and speculations.

This Conference seeks to provide a comprehensive learning on the Right to Information, dealing with its multiple facets from a constitutional perspective to be a statutory right, and thereby itsevolution as an executory right through administrative and judicial process.

Video Series on Migrant Experiences

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to the imposition of several lockdowns by the government at various levels, leading to complete shutdown of commercial entities. However, while the pandemic has affected people from all walks of life, the migrant labourers have dealt with the brunt of the lockdowns issued by the government, and have been affected the worst –economically, financially & culturally. Various courts, and government authorities are making sporadic attempts at alleviating the hardships faced by the migrant labourers, in the domains of employment, transportation, shelter, etc.

However, are the present interventions enough?

In order to highlight the issues faced by Migrant Labourers in Lockdown 1.0 & 2.0, The Centre for Advanced Studies in Labour Welfare presents a video-series, wherein the members of Centre for Advanced Studies in Labour Welfare interviewed & compiled the experiences and hardships migrant labourers faced during the lockdown.
